Tickets: £5 For the small QUAKER COMMUNITY in Belfast, like all Quakers worldwide, their daily lives need to be linked to their faith. “Let your lives speak” has been one of their central tenets. In the 19th century, when many were in business that meant developing charities and stewardship, with for example Foster Green endowing a new hospital to tackle TB which had tragically killed 7 of his children. By the 20th century, in different times, the emphasis had shifted to public service, internationally and in Northern Ireland, with a major focus on social justice and peace, and the campaigning work of Sir Charles Carter, Denis Barrett and Peter McLaughlin. Will Haire, a local Quaker, seeks to explore their changing interests and approaches.
