Join Pedaling Minds for a STEM bike exploration camp for St. Vrain School District's spring break! There will be lots of hands-on educational stations that tap into the creative young mind to learn how our helmets actually work, to power lights by bicycle to understand why it’s important to turn those lights off when they leave their rooms, and potentially build a rocket. Some of the following activities will be conducted:
-Learning the name and function of bike parts
-Using real tools to take a bike apart and put it back together
-Helmet safety: experimenting with eggs to demonstrate the impact of a crash
-Creating a link between the food we eat and the muscles we activate to ride bikes
-Changing a flat and replacing fallen chains
-Seeing how a bike pump can power a rocket
-Gyro effects of the wheel and why it's not simply balance riding a bicycle
-Experimenting with different lighting technologies and powering them by bicycle to understand energy conservation
