Long Road’s Elves have been hard at work since Santa’s orders came through in August, ensuring this year’s Holiday Pop-Up is the most festive yet. Beginning Tuesday, November 26, the annual holiday-inspired menus will be available at Long Road locations in Grand Rapids, Grand Haven and at Less Traveled on Cherry Street.
Mrs. Claus made a special request this year: to add tradition and butter to the gift list. Her pick? Christmas in the Quarter, which she promises will “make her wish come true.” This classic New Orleans Milk Punch features Bourbon, Nocino, Grand Absinthe, demerara sugar, and cream, paired with our Grand Absinthe shortbread cookies. Inspired by Long Road President Jenney Grant’s favorite childhood holiday treat, "Jingles," these cookies are an elevated take on the traditional anise shortbread with festive sprinkles—ours sparkle with gold and the essence of the French Quarter.
If decadence and tradition are what you’re craving, Mrs. Claus also recommends these returning favorites:
· Home for the Holidays: Our hot buttered rum, adapted from recipes dating back to the original 13 colonies.
· Santa’s Toolbox: A riff on Coquito, Puerto Rico’s creamy alternative to eggnog.
The Elves remind us that the holiday spirit is all about sharing peace and joy with others. To that end, we’re bringing back The Polar Vortex Punch—perfect for groups of four. No solo skiers this year! This cookie tin is filled to the brim with MICHIGIN, mint, cranberry, and almond milk, topped with a mountain of ice and powdered sugar snow. For smaller groups, The Final Snowdown offers a custom LRD snow globe filled with vodka, dry vermouth, lime, white cranberry, and orange bitters.
And, of course, we’ve taken Santa’s reindeer into account with their personalized recommendations:
· Blitzen: The fast one prefers a Cranberry Fizz, with Dry Gin, cranberry, sage, citrus, and clove.
· Dancer: The groovy one suggests Plum Humbug, featuring house-Mamajuana, plum liqueur, sorrel syrup, habanero honey, and ginger.
· Prancer: The party-starter loves St. Nick’s Vacation—Original Rum, Red Amaro, Falernum, spiced tepache, lime, and bitters, served in a festive St. Nick mug.
· Vixen: The entertainer enjoys Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown—Bourbon, mint-cacao liqueur, almond milk, demerara, cream sherry, and a whole egg.
· Comet: The relaxed one chooses Comfort and Joy, a clarified milk punch with two rums, Grand Absinthe, pineapple, and holiday spices.
· Cupid: The loving one feels the warm fuzzies with an Old-Fashioned Hot Chocolate—Bourbon, cherry liqueur, hot cocoa, topped with an orange liqueur and clove marshmallow.
· Donner: The singer can’t resist one of our three Etta James-inspired espresso martinis.
· Blitzen (again!): The spontaneous one loves our new Uncharted Zero-Proof Cocktails, featured for the first time on this pop-up menu.
· Rudolph: The guiding light enjoys Partridge in a Pear Tree—Dry Gin, almond liqueur, Anjou pear, vanilla bean syrup, lemon, and mascarpone.
Finally, our Elves have already prepared over 1,200 mini gingerbread cookies for garnishing the Gingerbread Old Fashioned, 300 Grand Absinthe shortbread cookies for Christmas in the Quarter, and a mountain of homemade marshmallows to infuse holiday cheer. The workshop is in full swing, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you at all three locations!
Long Road’s Happy Holidays Cocktail Pop-Up will be available beginning Tuesday, November 26 at Long Road Grand Rapids, Grand Haven and Less Traveled. It will run through January 4 at all locations.
