Alma Thomas was an artist and educator who created a striking style of abstract painting later in her life. Beginning in the mid-1960s, she crafted vibrant and intricately patterned pieces that were deeply connected to nature. Recognized as an American painter, she is celebrated for her vivid, abstract works. Thomas often interpreted art historical references, natural occurrences, and her personal aesthetic through straightforward circular and linear designs. She was a significant figure in the Washington Color School.Today, we are going to have a lot of fun with color by creating a delightful mosaic with stones and plaster and continuing our color study with fiber arts as we create a thoughful mosaic mandella.
Please pack a lunch, snacks and a water bottle as we will take several brain breaks throughout the day.
