During 2024, the Florence International Singing Programme will expand its venture to back to London. Steeped in rich musical history, the capital city of England has been a focal point for musicians throughout the generations; Vaughan Williams wrote a London Symphony, Haydn composed 12 symphonies based on London and Elgar celebrated London’s vigour in his Cockaigne Overture, a word that Victorians used to refer to a general kind of ‘Cockney’ naughtiness!The cultural capital boasts a plethora of historic churches to choose from. Our London course takes FISP to St Paul's Cathedral for two services (one under the iconic Dome, and the other in the Quire), and Westminster Abbey - the place of the recent Coronation, which championed English Choral music at its finest.
