About this Event
A powerful combination of abridged screenings of London Recruits and Unsung Hero - the Jack Jones story, combined into one night of legendary political history and discussion.
London Recruits mixes archive footage and first hand testimony into a dramatic telling of a small group of anti-apartheid activists in 1970s Britain. Led by Ronnie Kasrils and other exiles of the oppressive South African regime, the film tells of their undercover mission back into the heart of their country to overthrow apartheid from within.
Unsung Hero - the Jack Jones story, made by Liverpool based Hurricane Films, documents trade unionist Jack Jones, from his early experience in the Spanish civil war to a life dedicated to trade unionism and activism even in his retirement, campaigning against the woeful state pension.
Followed by Paul Seagrove, journalist in discussion with Molly Dhlamini, South African activist and directors of Unsung Hero - Gordon Maine and Sol Pappadopolous.
