✨ Michael Tierney: A decade of freelancing

In this talk, Michael Tierney shares the lessons, mistakes and philosophies gathered from a decade of freelancing across 20 countries and 300 homes. From earning his first client to mastering the art of doing more by doing less, Michael unpacks how logic, time and consistency shaped his career and lifestyle. He covers practical insights into finding clients, designing a balanced life, managing money and creating freedom through efficiency. Honesty and data from his own journey, he explores how to build a sustainable creative career without burnout, where the goal isn’t just to make a living, but to design a life worth living.

Michael Tierney Bio

With over 15 years of experience as a motion designer, I create bold, dynamic and engaging motion graphics and animations using Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D. I’ve collaborated with global brands including Rolex, Rolls-Royce, HSBC, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony PlayStation, BT and EE, as well as innovative studios and agencies such as Squint Opera, VML, AKQA and Domestika.
