An introduction to identifying birds, butterflies and flowers in the beautiful Huntingdonshire countryside.
About this Event

Have you ever wandered what bird makes a sound like blowing over the top of a bottle or who calls out “Teacher” "Teacher” or even “A little bit of bread and no cheese”? Or do you want to know what that amazingly pretty butterfly is or what that spectacular wildflower is? Then this is the course for you!

We will try and show you and help identify the more common, or if we are lucky some of the not so common, species that you may encounter when you are out and about in the local Huntingdonshire countryside or even in your garden.

We will be doing an introduction to identifying birds, butterflies and flowers with our local enthusiasts, Mike and Catherine.

We are general wildlife watchers with over 40 years of experience and will hopefully be able to help you with the identification of many local species. We have a chance of some rarer species such as Marsh Harriers, Bittern and Great White Egrets. It is also a good time for butterflies, especially if we are lucky and we have a nice warm sunny day. Plants are always good at this time of the year.

Any key information that visitors need to know? Please bring binoculars if you have them. We do have a couple of spare binoculars and will be using a scope to help get closer to the birds. A good pair of walking shoes or boots will be very useful plus a raincoat but of course it will be sunny!

Venue: Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB Reserve, meet at the car park, just north of Holywell lake, which is the nearest car park to the bus route, just north of the bus route.

The car park is just off Holywell Ferry Road
