Black Powder experience!
Sunday 12 May, 10am-1pm
Venue: Cambridge Gun Club, Chear Fen Farm, Long Drove, Cottenham, Cambs, CB24 8AH
An opportunity to load and fire replica weapons of the period using black powder so you can really understand what it was like for British infantrymen of the Napoleonic period.
Our member Chris Lenn has arranged an immersive experience with the expert support of The Anglian Muzzle Loaders. There will be a demonstration and practice session with the opportunity to fire at clays (no soldier-like targets permitted by Gun Club rules). Numbers are limited to 30 and the cost is £45 which covers the Gun Club and Muzzle Loaders’ costs as well as safety equipment and instruction, plus an Eventbrite fee.
Please note the following:
· No previous experience or specific physical attributes are required.
· Full safety training will be provided.
· To comply with Gun Club rules we will be firing shot, not ball.
· Non-shooting persons accompanying shooters can attend but will need to bring their own ear and eye protection if they want to visit the stands to see the shooting (this can also be bought at the Gun Club, and is not too expensive).
· The gun club is in a remote setting, 8 miles from central Cambridge (approx. 30 minutes’ drive from the city centre.
· There is a café on site which serves food on weekends from 9am-2pm. Drinks and cakes are still available from 2pm until the end of the day (3pm)
· There is ample parking & toilets on site.
