About this Event
Local Spark is hosting a Dragons’ Den style event that brings together Community Interest Companies, social enterprises, and people who want to support a more inclusive local economy.
Now in its 6th year, this event welcomes not only local business owners, but also professionals and individuals who bring experience, insight, or resources and want to support community-led projects in a practical and meaningful way. The focus is on listening, asking questions, and exploring realistic ways to help ideas move forward, without the pressure or formality often associated with pitching or investment events.
What to expect
As a Dragon, you will hear short pitches from a small number of selected CICs and social enterprises. Each pitch is followed by time for questions and conversation, giving you the opportunity to understand the work being presented and consider how you might offer support.
Support does not need to be financial. Many Dragons choose to offer professional expertise, mentoring, introductions, or ongoing guidance. Any support offered is entirely at your discretion, and there is no expectation to commit on the day.
The afternoon also includes informal networking and taster lunch, kindly provided by Devon Farm Kitchen CIC, along with time to connect with others who share an interest in supporting community-led enterprise.
Who this event is for
This event is open to anyone who would like to support social enterprises and community-focused projects in Torbay.
Dragons include business owners, professionals, and individuals who want to contribute experience, knowledge, or resources. You do not need to represent a business, and no previous experience with social enterprise is required.
There is no obligation to commit to funding or support during the event.
Why attend
Attending as a Dragon gives you the opportunity to hear directly from local CICs and social enterprises, to understand the challenges they are facing, and to offer support in a way that feels appropriate to you.
Local Spark events are designed to be well-structured, welcoming, and grounded in practical outcomes, helping turn good intentions into meaningful local action.
