Friends of the Green man Victoria Swanwick and Amy Corcoran are organising two special bewitching events as part of the Tring Spring Fayre.Based around the story of Ruth Osborne, who was the last woman to be killed accused of witchcraft in the UK, which happened just outside Tring.
The second event takes place on Sunday 17th May, 1.30pm-4.30pm. It's a 3.5-4 mile circular walk from Long Marston Church tracing some of Ruth Osborneās last movements, learning about her story and the time she was living in, remembering her as a woman not a witch, and thinking about lessons we can learn from her story today.
The walk will be led by a group of women from Long Marston who have previously researched Ruth's story, and who established a memorial to Ruth in their local church garden. The walk will be a really fascinating journey into local history while walking through some lovely spring countryside.
This event, and the talk on 15th May, are free and open to everyone. The events are not ticketed, but it'd be helpful if you emailed [email protected] if you're coming, just to keep track of numbers.
Look forward to seeing you there
Victoria's and Amy's first event in the Tring Spring Fayre will be a folklore talk with three local academics on 15th May. Find out more here:
