Join us for an engaging panel event that brings together local environmental leaders to discuss key environmental issues, innovative projects, and grassroots initiatives impacting the Queanbeyan-Palerang and ACT region. This is an opportunity to hear three dynamic speakers share their expertise, stories, and visions for the future. From community engagement and education to sustainable land management and climate advocacy, this panel will showcase the incredible work happening in our local area and highlight ways we can all contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
The panel discussion will be facilitated by professional facilitator, Liz Landford, who will guide the conversation and dive into local challenges and opportunities, drawing out practical insights and meaningful connections from the panellists. This is your chance to connect with local experts, learn about vital community initiatives, and discover how you can play a role in shaping the future of our environment.
Our Panellists:
Simon Copland, Executive Director of the Conservation Council ACT Region. Simon brings a lifetime of environmental passion and extensive experience in the Australian climate movement. He’s worked with organisations such as Pedal Power ACT and 350.org Australia, advocating for active travel and climate action. Simon also has a PhD and a strong interest in nature walking and environmental justice.
Emery Joseph, Environment Education Officer at Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. Emery leads hands-on community events like tree plantings and waterbug surveys, while engaging local schools to foster environmental awareness from a young age. With a background in environmental management and science communication, Emery’s work inspires local participation in conservation efforts.
Ian Johnson, Chair of Queanbeyan Landcare and Board Member of South East Local Land Services. With over 20 years of experience across natural resource management and agricultural research boards, Ian is a prominent figure in sustainable land management and community-driven conservation in the region.
