We are thrilled to host local authors Joseph Dziobek and Maia Jansson for National Poetry Month. In Like a Love Song, Joseph Dziobek sums up his feelings about living in South County, and his relationship with family, friends, his Maker, nature, and the ocean. Joseph's poems are filled with the wonder of seeing deer in his meadow, of fishermen going through the channel as the sun rises over Galilee, and of discovering a piece of sea glass buried beneath the sand.
Maia Jansson's beautiful illustrations bring these poems to life. To Maia, creating art is akin to breathing. Her work derives from many sources - pre-existing texts, dreams, memories, and nature, to name a few. She approaches art the same way she approached playing as a child-exploratory and whimsical. According to Maia, you can find a part of her in the illustrations throughout this wonderful book.
