About this Event

Join us on April 11, 2026, 1-3pm at The Haunted Book Shop for a Local Author Saturday Spotlight with authors Joy Rancatore and Madalyn Rae. Both will be chatting with guests and signing their latest works.

About Animal Vignettes: True Stories of Friendship by Joy Rancatore:
Joy E. Rancatore, an award-winning indie author, brings to life an endearing collection of animal stories that navigate the profound impact of furry, feathered, and finned friends on human lives. Animal Vignettes reflects on Joy's personal experiences from her childhood memories of a kitten in a stroller to the supportive pets that have accompanied her through life's journeys, including the grief of losing a dear friend. Her narratives resonate with the humor and pathos found in Reader’s Digest essays and echo the beloved tales by James Herriot.

About Garden of Secret and Shadow by Madalyn Rae:
Grad student Amelia Lockhart has lived in New Orleans her entire life. Growing up alone in the worst part of the city, she learned the only person she can depend on is herself. Her luck seems to change when she scores the perfect apartment in the heart of the French Quarter for a steal. It seems too good to be true, and she soon finds out it is.
When Harrison Chamberlin, one of the oldest and strongest vampires in the city, saves Amelia’s life, he opens his home and library to her for as long as she needs. As she’s thrust into a world of vampires, werewolves, witches, and imagination, she soon questions everything she’s ever known about New Orleans, life in the French Quarter, and most importantly—herself.

We're turning the spotlight on two local authors and hope you join us to celebrate their achievements. See you soon!
