Intro to Land Navigation Course
Ready to sharpen your outdoor skills? Join us for the Intro to Land Navigation Course! This hands-on six-hour class on the use of a map and a compass for land navigation will teach you the basics you need to get you on your way, or be a refresher for those whose abilities have grown rusty. We’ll use a combination of classroom and outdoor instruction to help you practice this essential outdoor skill. We’ll also cover additional skills to help you find your way in the backcountry. Participants will need to bring a suitable navigation compass and a topographic map of the Sandia Mountains. Additional information and a gear list will be provided about one week in advance. Children over the age of 12 with a parent or legal guardian may attend. No dogs. This course is being presented in association with the Sierra Club Military Outdoors Program and the Latino Outdoors Organization.
