We are bringing together two organizations with aligned values for a weekend in the outdoors to build community.
About this Event

This family-friendly campout is designed for campers who have their own gear and some experience camping. We’ll spend the weekend setting up camp, cooking together, gathering around the campfire, hiking, and more.

Dates: April 10 - April 12

Who: Attendees ages 10+ with intermediate experience

Food

You will be responsible for your own meals for the weekend, and we will have cooking gear (stoves, pots) for shared use, if needed. We can help connect folks who are interested in group meals.

Camping Gear

Camping gear will not be provided. Everyone is responsible for their own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and other essentials. Having the appropriate temperature ratings for your sleeping bag and sleeping pad will make the experience more enjoyable and safe.

Ideally you’ll have at least a 20°F rated sleeping bag and an R-value of 4 for your sleeping pad. Alternatively, adding a foam sleeping pad/yoga mat(s) under your sleeping pad can increase insulation while adding a liner and/or hand warmers can increase warmth in your sleeping bag. It will be up to each person to understand their bodies and whether you have an appropriate set up to meet those needs.

Stipend

LO and OA will reimburse up to $50 per participant for weekend expenses (food, gear, and gas/transportation).

Getting There

Group transportation from the Chicago area will be available. You may also choose to drive yourself; note that Indiana Dunes State Park daily fees will apply.

By registering, you are:

Confirming that you will attend the full duration of the campout
Confirming you can respond to the Google Form we'll be sending via email by March 15!
Confirming you understand an itinerary, gear packing list, etc. will be sent directly to confirmed attendees via email.

Cancellations

Space is limited and life happens. If you registered by mistake, or are no longer able to join us, please let us know ASAP through email at [email protected] so we can offer that spot to someone on the waitlist.
