Intermediate Class, Week 8
Klinkhammer. The Klinkhammer is a dry fly pattern designed to imitate an emerging mayfly or midge caught in the surface film, a vulnerable stage that trout find irresistible. Its unique parachute hackle and submerged body create a realistic silhouette that straddles the waterβs surface, mimicking an insect struggling to hatch. This design not only increases visibility for the angler but also triggers confident surface takes from selective fish. It should be fished with a dead drift in slower runs, eddies, or tailouts during hatches when trout are feeding just below the surface.
