Beginner Class, Week 6
Hare's Ear. The Hare’s Ear is a classic nymph pattern that imitates a wide range of aquatic insects, particularly mayfly nymphs and caddis larvae. Its natural, buggy appearance—created with spiky hare’s fur—gives it lifelike movement and texture that trigger strikes from trout. The subtle flash of the ribbing adds just enough attraction without looking unnatural. It’s best fished on a dead drift under an indicator or as part of a two-fly rig, bouncing near the streambed where fish do most of their feeding.
