Intermediate Class, Week 6
Olson's Guide's Choice Hare's Ear. The Guide's Choice Hare's Ear is a nymph pattern that imitates a broad range of aquatic insects, including mayfly nymphs and caddis larvae. Its buggy hare’s ear body, soft hackle, and subtle flash offer movement and natural appearance that appeal to opportunistic trout. The addition of a hot spot collar and soft hackle increases visibility and motion, making it especially effective in slightly stained or fast-moving water. It should be fished dead-drift under an indicator or tight-line nymphed, often as a lead fly in a two-fly rig to cover different feeding zones.
