About this Event
Enjoy an hour of stories about Norwegian culture, learn a few words in Norwegian, and learn what it was like to immigrate to the United States in the mid-1800s. What is the most important thing to pack in your family's ONE shared trunk that you can bring on the boat? What happened to all the things you had to leave behind? Why are round-top trunks better than a flat-top trunk?
Re-enactor Roger Hellesvig becomes Ole Olesen, a Norwegian immigrant, who tells how his family planned and packed for their voyage to the United States. This presentation is for all ages. After questions from the audience, all are invited to view the Saga Center at Norway House, an interactive display highlighting modern Norway and its connection to the United States. The Saga Center is included in your ticket price.
Note: Norway House does not issue refunds. If you cannot attend an event, please consider giving your tickets to a friend.
