About this Event
April 17: Make Oyster Mats at the Barrier Island Center, 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Come learn about Living Docks in the Indian River Lagoon from Dante Romero and aid in habitat restoration. Dante is a graduate student at Florida Tech, working on the Living Docks project. His master's research focuses on mobile animals (e.g., fish, crabs, and shrimp) that utilize the Living Docks as a habitat, with the intention of evaluating their impact on the ecosystem of the Indian River Lagoon in densely populated areas. Workshop includes a presentation about the Living Docks program and an outdoor oyster mat making workshop on our deck. If you also want to help with the oyster mat installation and get in the water register for our April 18th workshop here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/living-dock-installation-at-hog-point-cove-tickets-1985830150437
