Josh Serafini will talk about his experience being homelessness and living on the streets as he leads a walking through the streets of Perth and to key services in the area that provided support to him during this period.

Josh, who is a strong advocate for ending homelessness, will provide an insight to what it is like to live on the streets, and what helped him to get off the streets, into a home and to undertake the successful work that he does today.

Leaving the Platform at 9:45am the walk will include areas that Josh used to stay as well as

  • Royal Perth Hospital.
  • Tranby Engagement Hub.
  • The Beacon.
  • Uniting WA.
  • Passages .

The tour will end at Passages at approximately 12:00pm - please note lunch will be provided at the end of the tour.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the departure time .
  • The tour will go ahead regardless of the weather.
  • Please wear comfortable shoes for the walking tour.
  • Please bring water.

About Josh

Josh Serafini manages the Community Dinners program from a commercial kitchen in the George Burnett Leisure Centre in Karawara. He started the HOME (Hope Opportunity Mutuality Empowerment) Karawara initiative, which is a collective group of services and businesses providing hundreds of meals to people who are homelessness, isolated or need a bit of a hand in the local area. Supported by local volunteers and people who have overcome their mental health challenges to assist in the kitchen, Josh who has worked in catering, is the resident cook and oversees the operation. Josh experienced periods of homelessness from the time he was fifteen years old, living on the streets of Perth.
