Live@TheLibrary: The Reunion

'The Reunion' will revisit the club scene in 1970s, and beyond. It is a wonderful snapshot that gives a brief insight into the memories of younger halcyon days. The play is based around the music scene and the youthful experience of the cast and includes links to clubs in and around Manchester, The Hacienda, The Reno, The Nile, The Cats Whiskers, Kittyman's, Wigan Casino, The Millionaire and The Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria. Each performer has their own favourite club and will express this using a favourite song and dance moves. Included is an opportunity for some voluntary audience participation. There will be an opportunity to sing, hum, dance, get involved or just sit back and enjoy the performance.

The cast of Elder African and Caribbean women, have come together to devise this play. It is a physical, engaging and active performance and shows how as we age we don’t need to leave behind that fun, active part of ourselves, in fact it grows with us! The group challenges Ageism, demonstrating their contribution to their community, while still remembering their younger days, and sharing their experiences with younger generations. Especially when it comes to the themes of partying and young love, these feelings are universal throughout time. The show content expresses to younger people that their Parents, Grandparents and in some cases Great Grandparents have had the same experiences they have today. The music may have changed but 'Clubbing' remains the same across the generations.
