New Power Soul is a local musical powerhouse specializing in high energy live performances ripe with elements of funk, rock and soul. NPS lays down solid, phat grooves inspired by their influences such as Prince, Lenny Kravitz, The P-Funk all Stars and Incendiary Guitar work reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix et al. They’ve been a regional favorite for over 2 decades playing musical festivals and venues all around the southeast and beyond including the famed Bonnaroo music festival held each year in Manchester, Tn. NPS was formed when Lead Singer/Guitarist, Davis Mitchell and Drummer, Robby Mathis met while camping out for Prince tickets in the mid 90’s. The two swapped an acoustic guitar and trading guitar licks ALL NIGHT long while camping out for Prince tickets and soon after formed New Power Soul with bassist, Dan Marshall.
