John Gay blends bluegrass and rock into his self-described “seeker-dropout” sound, drawing inspiration from Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, and Pink Floyd. After a nine-year incarceration, he turned to music and writing, and since his 2017 release has performed over 1,200 shows. His 2025 debut album, While You Can, features heartfelt lyrics, introspective themes, and a unique mix of bluegrass and alternative sounds.
