Deadlight Dance is the current creative outlet for multi-instrumentalists Nick Fletcher and Tim Emery, whose musical partnership stretches back to their Sixth Form days and a short-lived Gothic Rock band formed in 1989. Remaining friends and occasional collaborators through the decades that followed, the pair reignited that shared chemistry during lockdown, building Deadlight Dance around a mutual love of atmospheric alternative acts such as The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim.Musically, Deadlight Dance thrive on texture and versatility. Between them, Fletcher and Emery handle vocals, 6 and 12-string guitars, basses, bass VI, mandocello, mandolin, synths, keyboards, acoustic and electronic drums, alongside programmed rhythms. The result is a rich, layered sound balancing gothic atmosphere, post-punk edge and melodic depth.
