Little Grass Shack on a Desert Island in Silver Clay Workshop

Once your piece is dry and fired, it transforms into solid fine silver, capturing every delicate detail in lasting metal.

The final stage brings it all to life: refining surfaces, adding patina for depth, and polishing highlights so your miniature shack feels sun-worn, windswept, and full of character.

Fingernail Moon Jewelry Studio is in FAVO - Faith Arts Village Orlando - a vintage 1950s era motel that has been converted into artist studios. Just off Colonial Drive/Highway 50 near I-4, we are conveniently located at the north end of downtown Orlando. Using the addres 718 Highland Ave. you will arrive at the outer parking lot. To enter the facility, turn north on Highland from Colonial, there is a stoplight, and enter the second driveway on the left, through a black fence. You will see a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". Proceed through the parking lot to the far right and rear and on through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. You will see an L-shaped building with colorful doors - that's us! I am studio 237, second from the end upstairs on the right. Look for the moons!

Info: We'll take our first few minutes to meet and greet. Then we'll spend a little time to learn about precious metal clay.

Info: Now it's time to get our hands dirty and start making! We will learn how to roll, texture, cut, shape and mold our pieces. Over the next couple of hours we will build our little shacks and add unique embellishments.

Info: While our pieces dry, it's time to take a break and have some lunch! Fingernail Moon Studio is located in the heart of Mills 50. There is an endless variety of eating establishments nearby, some within walking distance. But you are welcome to bring your lunch and eat in the studio.

Info: By the time we return from lunch, our pieces will be dry. We will learn how to fire them with a butane torch so they will be fully sintered and end up silver.

Info: You will be surprised what your little shack looks like after it's fired. It's going to take a little work to make it beautiful and shiny. Then we'll add patina if desired. Then you're off to your own little piece of paradise!
