About this Event
LIQUID LINES, Showcasing Kyle Dunn, Rebecca Kaufman, Mario Navasero Hosted by Arcana, Curated by
Grids form, dissolve, and reappear, bending into organic shapes that seem to move when you move. There is a tension between discipline and intuition here, where systems are built only to be stretched and transformed. Calculations give way to something deeply sensory.
Mario, a self taught artist from Oakland, brings an energy into the space that feels both prolific and deeply human. His practice moves with an unstoppable rhythm. There is an honesty in his work that mirrors his presence, generous, instinctive, and grounded in a love for making art.
Listening to Rebecca speak about “excellent art”, she described work that makes you wonder how it was even created. Her work plays with this idea. Through repetition and process, subtle disruptions begin to appear, moments that feel like glitches or shifts within the system. The surface begins to hum, vibrating between my eyes, gently holding my attention. Tilt your head to one side and watch her work respond to your own movements.
Kyle’s work was the inspiration behind this exhibition. When I first encountered his canvases a couple years ago, it set the tone for what this show could become. His compositions feel like a matrix in motion, charged and circulating. Discipline and structure begin to bend into something fluid, alive, and breathing. Kyle creates a subject that moves beyond a predictable form… and still, I can’t help but wonder, was this the form he intended.
