Have you been wanting to learn linocut, but not sure where to start? Maybe you’ve tried carving with the pink rubber but you just want a little more out of it. This is the class for you! While the methods for creating and printing your very own stamp is similar, the material used certainly isn’t. Linoleum is a harder material to carve, but the payoff is well worth it. Though extra care needs to be taken, you will be rewarded with more detail in your prints than rubber can provide.
In this class, students will draw out and carve their own linoleum block or “linocut” to create prints from. We will cover how to carve, safety methods, materials, and then make some prints together. All materials are provided, however you may find thinking about or sketching out some ideas before coming to be helpful. We will be working on a piece of 4x6 linoleum.
