Texas Artist Linda McCall to Demonstrate at Weatherford Art Association Monthly MeetingThe Weatherford Art Association welcomes Weatherford, Texas artist Linda McCall for a demonstration at its October ¬27th meeting from 6-7:45 p.m., at the Senior Center, 1225 Holland Lake Drive in Weatherford.
A native Texan, Linda Leonhart-McCall is currently a full-time practicing artist in Fort Worth, Texas. Before resigning her position in 2010, she served for 12 years as faculty and Visual Art Department Chair at Ursuline Academy of Dallas. A highlight of her career was serving on Ursuline’s Global Education Taskforce encouraging faculty to consider education on a broader scope that would enrich the curriculum in every department by looking outward to the world rather than inward. McCall was sent all over the world with other teachers and administrators to then return and present our findings and share with other faculty. To demonstrate her passion for global teaching, she teamed up with the chair of the English department designing a cross-curricular set of courses with a global focus. The course she designed was Ursuline’s first team-taught course in which students could receive dual credit in both fine art and senior level English. The course, Latin America through Art and Literature took off.
Prior to her position at Ursuline, Ms. McCall was an adjunct professor of art at The University of North Texas in Denton and an adjunct professor at Brookhaven College in Dallas where she taught painting, drawing and design. McCall is still involved in the north Texas community as a frequent lecturer, presenter, and juror and served on the fledgling Public Arts Council for the city of Flower Mound and continues to teach on a part-time basis.
McCall received her BFA at Southern Methodist University and MFA at The University of North Texas; and studied art in Italy with Pratt Art Institute of NY. Her work has been included in numerous private collections and exhibitions including the Critic’s Choice exhibition at the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art. Her work has been represented by Craighead-Green Gallery in Dallas, TX for 22 years.
Demonstrations are free and open to the public. You can learn more about the artist by reaching her at https://www.lindamccall.com/
