About this Event

Welcome to Liminal Space: What Was, What Could Be

Join us on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Mingei International Museum for an evening of community building within the Asian American diaspora.

Curated by Britt Pham (she/they), featuring multidisciplinary art from hamsa fae (she/they), Quyen Nguyen-Le (they/them), Mimi Tran (she/her), Jasmine Chan (she/they), and Josh Nguyen (he/him).

Liminal Space is the bridge between our current chapter and the next, exploring how we hold both the realities of the past with possibilities of the future. It is the breath before the next movement in a dance. It is emergence.

What to expect

Installations, performances, interactive art, community connection, and more

Some themes we may explore

Intergenerational trauma // Intergenerational joy

Grief and the loss of elders // Honoring ancestors

Acknowledging the truth of where we come from // Being intentional about the legacy we create

What do we carry with us? What do we leave behind? What occurs at the threshold between the two?

About Viet Voices

Viet Voices is a non-profit community organization dedicated to serving the Vietnamese community in San Diego County. Our mission is to bring more resources, programs, and services into our community. We provide public education to the community on various issues such as affordable housing access, tenant protections, economic stability and support for small businesses, education on environmental alternatives, food justice, LGBTQ and health equity.

We also center our work on arts and culture as a way to bring attention to multiple issues in our community. We commit to doing our work in both Vietnamese and English, which is effective for our refugee and immigrant community. We aim to build community power for our Vietnamese community through civic engagement and grassroots community organizing.
