liminal is a new platform by T.H.E Dance Company that brings together new choreographic works by mid-career artists.The first edition begins as a triple bill with artists from within T.H.E, featuring resident choreographer Anthea Seah, alongside main company dance artists Fiona Thng and Klievert Jon Mendoza. Each presents a work exploring experiences many of us recognise—care, desire, responsibility, longing and choice.
Anthea Seah’s 𝘔𝘢 looks at matrescence, examining how identity shifts across generations, as past and future selves surface and inherited memories are carried alongside care, fatigue and love. Fiona Thng’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘮𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 turns inward, reflecting on motherhood as an emotional terrain where tenderness, strength and strain exist side by side. In 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘢, Klievert Jon Mendoza explores the pull between desire and freedom, asking what happens when what we long for begins to quietly limit us.
Together, this first edition of liminal brings three mid-career choreographic voices into focus, marking the opening chapter of a platform that will continue to expand and engage with a wider range of artistic voices across Singapore’s contemporary dance landscape.
