Spoken word artists Iva Brito, Hendrick Hernandez-Resto, Maia Livramento and Gabriel Johnson in collaboration with musicians from New Bedford Symphony Orchestra and Malian master drummer Sidy Maiga continue the celebration of the history of African Americans and other communities of color’s contributions to greater New Bedford and beyond-but with a twist.
Lift Us Up: The Remix honors the poets, the creatives and visionaries and their legacies that continue to live on in written/spoken word, education, music and life.
Come enjoy an afternoon of poetic prose and symphonic sounds that honor the past, bring attention to the present and express the hopes of many for the future.
