THE COMPANY YOU KEEP: THE POWER OF CONNECTION

This session explores leadership as a relational practice shaped by skill and competence, as well as connection, communication, and support. Participants examine how relationships, power dynamics, and communication patterns influence belonging, access, and energy at work.

Through guided reflection and dialogue, participants increase awareness of how they navigate relationships, where trust feels present, where it feels fragile, and where leadership is being carried alone. The session emphasizes that sustainable leadership is not a solo endeavor, and that support ecosystems are both intentional and evolving.

At the end of this session, participants will:

• Increase awareness of how relationships, power, and communication shape

belonging at work

• Identify relational practices that support trust, clarity, and connection
• Map a Personal Board of Directors to clarify sources of support, perspective,

and challenge

• Name one relational or support-focused practice to strengthen leadership

sustainability

A core element of the session is designing a Personal Board of Directors, a visual map of the relationships that support growth, grounding, advocacy, and accountability. Participants reflect on who currently fills these roles, which forms of support may be missing, and how identity and safety influence where they seek connection.

Participants leave with greater clarity about their relational patterns, a more intentional view of their support network, and one small, actionable step to strengthen connection and belonging as they continue their leadership journey.
