About this Event
Life expectancy is an important metric used for centuries to assess birth, life, and death in a systematic but revealing way. This presentation will explore related issues such as deaths of children, differences between sexes, communities, and nations — as well as changes over time. Gains in life expectancy are an indicator of a nation's progress in creating a safe and healthy society. Losses tell another story. This is a one-session class, presented by Thomas J. Moore.
Thomas J. Moore is an adjunct faculty member in epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins and George Washington University schools of public health. He is the author of four books about health, medical care, and drug therapy. He works remotely from Santa Fe.
