About this Event
Join the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF) and Center for Independent Living (CIL) for a screening of Life After, a powerful documentary from filmmaker Reid Davenport.
Life After is a 2025 American documentary film that explores the story of Elizabeth Bouvia, who in 1983 sought the legal right to die. Life After is a rallying cry for people with disabilities to be in control of their lives, and examines the political and social structures that surround and control people with disabilities.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Michelle Uzeta and featuring Reid Davenport, director of Life After, along with Anita Cameron, Disability Justice Activist, and Michael Bien, Founding Partner of Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld LLP. Together, they will explore the film’s themes and the broader implications for disability rights, ethics, and public policy.
This is an in-person event and it will not be live-streamed. If you cannot attend in person, we can provide a link to screen the film at home during the event on March 19. To receive a time-limited link, please email [email protected] by Monday, March 16.
ASL and CART (live captions) provided. Contact Ally Cline at [email protected] for any accommodations you may need by Thursday, March 12. Late requests may not be possible to fill.
