The community is invited to a ribbon‑cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at the Lido Beach Pavilion to mark the completion of a three‑month renourishment project that restored 1.2 miles of shoreline along Lido Key. Led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the City of Sarasota and funded entirely by $12 million in federal support, the project placed approximately 300,000 cubic yards of locally sourced sand from New Pass onto the beach.Before the ribbon cutting, attendees will hear remarks from Mayor Debbie Trice, Public Works Director Nikesh Patel, a Lido Key neighborhood representative, and Maj. Cory Bell, USACE Deputy Commander for South Florida, highlighting the project’s success and benefits to the community.
