VOLUNTEER RELEASE AND WAIVER
By registering for this event, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
- I wish to volunteer with the community group Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance. My participation is related to “Activities” focused on protecting, preserving, and enhancing public parks, spaces, or natural areas in New York City. These “Activities” can include but are not limited to picking up trash, removing weeds, applying mulch, painting park equipment, and or moving or carrying heavy bags.
- I also acknowledge that engaging in the “Activities” may involve using various tools, supplies, and equipment that could be physically demanding. I understand the inherent risks and potential hazards associated with these activities, including the risk of injury and serious bodily harm. I affirm that I am in good physical health and do not have any medical conditions that would impede my participation in the “Activities.”
- I assume all risks of personal injury, harm, or property damage associated with participation in the “Activities.”
- I am at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian is required to register on your behalf, thereby agreeing to be bound by the terms of the volunteer release and waiver, along with any other parents or guardians associated with the volunteer.
- I assume full responsibility for myself and any dependents or minors accompanying me during the event, even those who are not explicitly registered in this event registration.
- I grant Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance and its representatives unrestricted permission to use my name, likeness, voice, photographs, videos, quotations, and activities related to Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance for promotional purposes in perpetuity. I acknowledge that I will not receive any compensation for this use.
- I release Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance and its representatives from any responsibility or liability, including injuries, accidents, costs, bodily injury, illness, death, or property damage incurred by me, my dependents, or minors during the event or in connection with the “Activities” done during the event.
VOLUNTEER BEST PRACTICES
- Your commitment matters. Please arrive on time or cancel your ticket if you cannot attend.
- Wear appropriate clothes and shoes. Wear closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes for safety. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, damaged, or painted on.
- Bring a reusable water bottle, sunblock, and any necessary safety equipment to ensure your well-being.
- Show respect and maintain orderly conduct. Avoid using any offensive, discriminatory, or derogatory language.
- In case of any emergency or life-threatening injuries, call 911 immediately or seek help from a fellow volunteer to make the call.
