About this Event
WINTER/SPRING 2026 SESSION: FEBRUARY 17- MARCH 26 (6 WEEKS)
Shadow and Light Play in Nature (A)
In this 6 week series, students will learn how to use shadows and light to tell their stories about their interaction with local flora and fauna. Students will bring their drawings of local wildlife to life using shadow puppet theatre. In these 6 classes we'll shed light on the Tongva, the Native Peoples of LA and the plants by way of our new California Native Garden here at the Lincoln Heights Youth Art Center. In each class participants will explore fascinating aspects of our wonderful planet.
This weekly class is designed for students ages 6 to 8.
Shadow and Light Play in Nature is taught by LHYAC Teaching Artist, Jess Gudiel (Instructor Jess). All classes have an adult support staff assistant in addition to the lead Teaching Artist to help ensure the best experience possible for everyone.
Students will meet twice weekly at the Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center, in Room 212 and/or the Courtyard, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm - 4:50 pm.
Please Save the Date for the final date of class, Thursday, March 26, which will include an in-class demonstration as part of the Center’s Open House Week. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this informal celebration marking your student’s achievements!
