In February 2025, Levi was admitted to hospice following a severe heart infection, compounded by significant memory loss and increased physical decline. Doctors expected the infection to be life-threatening and likely to return, so treatment was discontinued and comfort care began.Unexpectedly, Levi overcame the infection. However, the extended hospice care left Laurie facing overwhelming out-of-pocket medical expenses. Despite holding an auction last April, costs have continued to mount, with over $100,000 already spent.
This fundraiser will help Laurie recoup a portion of significant hospice funds and end-of-life expenses.
Levi served on many committees for the Central States Fair, the Black Hills Stock Show, SD High School rodeos, and 4-H rodeos. He is also a retired South Dakota Army National Guard veteran, having served for 36 years.
