Level 1 training provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme. 4th Aug, 9.30-4pm 2025.
About this Event

Level 1 training is the starting point for learning Makaton. It is recommended for:

Parents, family members, carers and workers who need to use Makaton at home and in their work enviroment.

participants who need a more detailed knowledge about using and applying Makaton to develop the communication skills of others

Sessions include discussing commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.

You will also learn the signs and symbols from Stages 1 and 2, and some of the Additional stage, of the Core Vocabulary.

Duration

Level 1 training is made up of two modules delivered as 1 full day online session on 4th August 25, 9.30-4pmpm. Particpants must be able to attend the full day. The workshop is online via Zoom. particpants must have access to a video & audio compatible computor or device and have the facitity to print any workshop resources required.

Entry criteria

Participants must have an interest in early communication skills.

Study materials

You will receive a Participant's Manual via post, which includes the Makaton symbols and signs that you learn in the workshop.

You will receive a certificate of attendance. Please remember to keep your Level 1 training certificate in case you want to attend further Makaton training.

In the event a participant cannot attend, a course tranfer will be offered onto the next available like for like workshop of the same level. Transfers must be taken within 12 month of payment date. A maximum of 1 transfer can be made.
