It has been a long summer spent seeing family, traveling and relaxing here at TechITUp. We are looking forward to getting back in the classroom and exploring technology with young minds. Starting September 14, 2025 @1:00, we will be launching our Level 1 Course with 10 new students. Ages 7-17 all welcome.8 spots remain, with limited scholarships available. Cost is $100 per student. Course information is below.
LEVEL 1 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
This is a six week course that meets from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sundays. It will give a wide exposure to the components and software systems that make a computer function. Exploration of circuitry, coding, terminology and hands on activities reinforcing technical concepts that apply to many areas of technology
Week 1- Students are given a fully functional Windows desktop PC and a screwdriver. After a brief introduction and explanation of how circuits work, they build a circuit with a battery, some wires, a switch and a fan. They then disassemble the entire computer. They learn what the various parts are and the terminology that identifies their capacity.
Week 2- Students learn about the process of Reverse Engineering. They reassemble their machines. They discover the various software systems that exist on their computers. Bios, POST, and Operating systems are discussed and explored.
Week 3- We discuss in depth what software is and the various levels at which it functions. How it is made and the various languages it is composed of. Students learn basic coding practices in a fun game environment.
Week 4-5 We now combine the process of building circuits and control the circuits with code. We use Piper Maker Kits that incorporate an educational version of Minecraft that feels like a game but reinforces logical coding to control real world actions and outputs
Week 6- We discuss what the internet is and how it works. We then create our own network and connect all the students computers together. We then play Minecraft on our own server as we celebrate how far they have come with a Pizza Party. They have the option to take their computer home so they can see what they can create with their new found talents.
If you are interested in signing your child up, or know of someone who would be please contact us through Facebook or our website. Look forward to a whole new season of fun.
