About this Event

Join the Friends of the Brentwood Branch as we celebrate world citizens and Jacksonville’s native sons, James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson in the Hicks Auditorium at the Jacksonville Public Library in downtown Jacksonville, FL.

This year marks the 126th Anniversary of "Lift Every Voice and Sing." The evening features a specialized symposium including a Panel Discussion: "Our Democracy and the Ballot." We will reflect on a significant 1923 speech by James Weldon Johnson regarding the vital roles of voting and citizenship.

Evening Schedule:

  • 5:30 PM: Meet & Greet Reception
  • 6:30 PM: Symposium and Panel Discussion

This event is presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Jacksonville First Coast.
