PARKING: Free limited parking on University Drive across the street from the center and a parking lot located at Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve (2301 University Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660)
ABOUT THE LOCATION: The Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center is an educational facility designed to help visitors explore and understand the estuary ecosystem of the Upper Newport Bay. Trails and overlook areas nearby, with restrooms, gift shop, scenic viewpoints.
BRING: Since this location is near John Wayne Airport, there may be a fair amount of noise from aircraft takeoff. You may want to consider either headphones or ear plugs if you prefer a quieter outdoor sketching experience - just be safe! Bring your favorite sketching media, an easel if desired, and maybe a folding chair or stool if you need to sit. We always recommend dressing in layers and preparing for being out in the sun.
We welcome all skill levels, whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting to explore your creativity. If you’re new to sketching, your equipment can be as simple as a pencil and a sketchbook.
