CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This beginner-friendly class introduces you to the basics of modern calligraphy, learning essential strokes and techniques, practicing simple alphabets, and exploring how to bring letters together into meaningful words and phrases.
By the end of class, you’ll create a custom Mother’s Day card from the heart and gain the foundational skills to continue modern calligraphy on your own, whether for journals, future cards, or creative décor.
No prior experience needed, just bring your creativity and curiosity!
ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR:
Joanie is a life-long learner and lover of hand lettering, starting experimenting with creating beautiful penmanship techniques in her teens. With a career in education, she relishes in moment to teach, especially when that teaching infuses creativity. After six years of teaching private and retail classes, she is excited to bring her classes to Shop Made in DC! Most importantly, don’t forget to ask her in class about her cat, Elle Woods!
