Canal and River Trust Let’s Walk Nantwich Social Walk Special
Hurleston
Thursday 26th September 2024 - 10.30am to 12.15pm
Join us for a free special away day walk alongside the Llangollen branch of the Shropshire Union Canal around Hurleston Locks and the adjacent reservoir just outside of Nantwich.
This gentle return walk along flat canal towpath and grass footpaths at a reasonably gentle pace should take approximately 75 mins.
The meeting point and free car park for the walk is located at;
The off-road parking area at Hurleston canal bridge just off the A51 Chester Road at Hurleston, nearest postcode CW5 6BU.
From Nantwich by car (2.9 miles – 9 minutes)
From Welsh Row, take the B5941 under Nantwich Aquaduct, past Nantwich Canal Centre, past Acton church to the traffic lights at Burford crossroads. Go straight over at the junction, continue past Snugbury’s Ice Cream (on your left) and then take the second turn off left onto a “no through road” (the old road) where there is a free parking area adjacent to the canal bridge.
Your walk leaders will meet you in this parking area from 10 am (for a 10.30am start) and will be identifiable in their blue Canal and River Trust tops. In the unlikely event that this parking area is full, they will also be able to direct you to alternative nearby additional parking that requires only a short walk back to the start point.
From Nantwich by public transport
Hurleston is served by the No 84 bus from Crewe via Nantwich to Chester. Ask for the bust stop near Snugbury’s which is just a short walk from the start point.
Canals and rivers are the perfect places to boost your mood and improve your physical and mental health. Even in busy towns and cities, they provide special spaces where you can relax, recharge, and get your body moving. You may even learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife!
