Let's Talk: Official Community Plan Update

Join us for an online information session to learn more about the Official Community Plan update and ways you can provide feedback to help shape how Victoria can grow and change into the future. This is the last of six online information sessions where you can learn about the proposed OCP update, provide feedback and ask your questions to City staff. Each session spotlights one OCP engagement topic area: Housing, Community or Climate.

The OCP is a big deal. It’s the long-term plan that shapes where housing, businesses and public spaces should go and how we move around the city. A focus of the 10-Year OCP update is to support high-quality communities with more housing choices, services, amenities and transportation options for a lower carbon city where residents have what they need close to home.
This information session will go over key points of the proposed OCP update and discuss topics related to:

· Housing
· Climate
· Community

In addition to the information about the overall OCP update, this session will also dig deeper into OCP climate topics. Victoria needs to grow and adapt to build a strong, resilient city that can meet the challenges of our changing climate. This means building climate-ready infrastructure, planning and preparing for climate change events, developing low-carbon buildings and growing our urban forest with smart land use choices.

This online session will cover climate topics on:

• How we can grow to meet housing and climate action goals

• The role and future of Victoria’s urban forest and other natural infrastructure
• Proposed directions to embrace Victoria’s coastal environment and support land and water systems (blue-green networks) like our watersheds and urban forest
