Let’s Talk About Sex: The Women’s Health Gap & Advocating for Ourselves

Every January, the Women in Leadership Committee of the French-American Chamber of Commerce designates the entire month of January as "Women’s Wellness Month".

On January 15, we invite you to a fireside chat with Kathryn Schubert, President & CEO of the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR). Together, we will dive into the women's health gap and discuss practical ways women can advocate for themselves within the U.S. healthcare system.

Kathryn Schubert President & CEO, Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR)

Kathryn “Katie” Schubert has served as President & CEO of the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) since April 2020. She is a trusted leader and consensus builder among women’s health stakeholders, and previously served as chief advocacy officer at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM). Schubert began her career on Capitol Hill and subsequently advised organizations on policy strategy in the health care space. She is a board member of the National Health Council, Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance, and ASPN Foundation. She is a previous president of Women in Government Relations, and in 2020 was named Advocate of the Year by Professional Women in Advocacy for her work on inclusion of pregnant and lactating populations in research, and in 2024 and 2025 was named as one of the most influential people shaping policy in health care by the Washingtonian magazine.


About the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR)As a national thought leader dedicated to advancing women’s health and promoting research on sex differences to optimize women’s health, the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) plays a critical role in identifying clinical and research gaps; raising awareness of diseases, conditions, and life stages that differently, disproportionately, or exclusively affect women; and promoting policies that could positively shape health outcomes for women. Over its more than 30-year history, SWHR has been advancing women’s health through its core functions of science, policy, and education.
