Let’s Talk About: Developing Film with Plants
A two-day Super 8 workshop with Drága Cardo
Can plants develop film? In this two-day workshop, artist duo Drága Cardo introduces participants to alternative, plant-based film development processes and explores the relationship between moving image, ecology, experimentation, and collective making.
On the first day, we will begin at Kunstverein Kombinage with an introduction to the process, selected plants, and the artistic practice of Drága Cardo. We will then travel together to Auer-Welsbach-Park, near Schönbrunn U4, where we will collect plants and shoot Super 8 film. After the collection, we will return to Kombinage to prepare the plant-based development process.
On the second day, we will develop the film together, followed by a screening and discussion of the results. As this is a two-day workshop with a shared process from filming and plant collection to development and screening, we kindly ask participants to be available for both days of the workshop.
No prior experience is necessary. All materials and supplies are provided. Drinks and small snacks will be available.
The workshop will be held in English, with language support in German, Spanish, and Hungarian.
