Let's Move Bike & Hike is back for a 3rd year at Summit Lake! This event is FREE and open to all pre-registered riders and walkers.
About this Event

Let’s Move Summit County is a healthy lifestyle initiative that encourages children and families to lead active, healthy lives. An initiative of the Summit County Council, Let’s Move Summit County has hosted Community Health Walks and events since 2010. The 2023 Bike & Hike is a FREE event intended to engage the community in a healthy activity.

Participants will ride or walk on a designated route along the Towpath Trail starting and ending at Summit Lake Community Center. Riders will depart first, followed by walkers. The bike course will take riders from Summit Lake to Nesmith Lake and back (approximately 6 miles). The walk will be approximately a 3-mile loop between Summit Lake and Canal Park (Lock 2) in downtown Akron.

This event is open to the public with the first registered 160 riders and 200 walkers allowed to participate at designated start times led by event volunteers.

Bike: Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. -- 8 starts for groups of 20 every 15 minutes between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.

Hike: Check in begins at 10:30 a.m. – 8 starts for groups of 25 every 15 minutes between 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

A limited number of bikes and helmets will be available to rent for the course with an ID security deposit. All cyclists participating in this event are encouraged to wear a helmet. All participants must sign a liability waiver prior to riding or walking in this event.

Participants will have limited access to restrooms at the Summit Lake Community Center and provided a free prepackaged lunch upon returning to the Summit Lake Park. Refreshment/water stations will be available at the turn-around points for bikers (Nesmith Lake) and walkers (Lock 2-Canal Park).

All registered participants will receive a t-shirt and “sportpack” with a mini-bottle of water and other items from our sponsors and partners.
